Laboratory Facilities


The Science Division received a $1.5 million grant from the National Science Foundation for the renovation of Biology and Chemistry research laboratories.  With funds contributed by the University, the total cost of the renovation project exceeded over $3 million.  The project has completed recently and the Chemistry Department now have 10 newly renovated laboratories with approximately 3300 square feet (310 square meters) of research space.

In addition to the above major equipment, the department has a wide range of standard equipment for chemical analysis, including: Gebbac Otomat 90 osmometer; Brookfield Instruments cone and plate viscometer; Beckman L5-50B ultracentrifuge; Damon/IEC refrigerated centrifuge; Denver microcentrifuge; Aminco-Morrow stopped flow spectrophotometer; electrophoresis equipment, polarimeter, analytical balances, vacuum drying ovens, vacuum lines, tensiometer, pH meters, etc.
